Child Safety Standards
Our zero-tolerance standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation.
The short version
This box is a plain summary. The sections below explain each point.
- TakeTurn is for adults (18+) only. We remove any account that belongs to someone under 18.
- Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). Any content or behavior that sexually exploits, sexualizes or endangers a child is banned.
- We remove it, ban the account, preserve the evidence and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as US law requires, and to other authorities where the law requires.
- Anyone can report, in the app or at taketurn.co/support, without an account.
- Our child safety point of contact can be reached at support@taketurn.co.
1. Scope
1.1. These Child Safety Standards apply to the TakeTurn apps for iOS and Android and the website taketurn.co, operated by the provider named in Section 1.1 of our Terms of Service (RETROBOND TEKNOLOJİ BİLİŞİM LİMİTED ŞİRKETİ, a limited liability company established in Turkey, Cumhuriyet Mah. Fatih Sultan Mehmet Blv. Cadde 224 No: 41 A/A, Nilüfer, Bursa, Türkiye) ("TakeTurn", "we" or "us"). They describe our standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation ("CSAE"), including child sexual abuse material ("CSAM").
1.2. These standards form part of our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Our Safety Center explains our wider safety features.
1.3. Definitions. A "child" or "minor" is anyone under 18. "CSAM" means any visual depiction, including photos and edited, drawn or computer-generated (AI) images, of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, or that otherwise meets the legal definition of child sexual abuse material.
2. Zero tolerance
2.1. The following are strictly prohibited on TakeTurn, in Takes, captions, profile photos, names, usernames and any other content or conduct:
- CSAM of any kind, real, edited, drawn or AI-generated;
- any content that sexualizes a minor, including sexualized comments or captions;
- grooming: building a relationship with a minor, or with someone you believe is a minor, in order to sexually abuse or exploit them;
- sextortion of a minor, or soliciting sexual images from a minor;
- child sex trafficking, or advertising, arranging or promoting the sexual exploitation of a child; and
- sharing, requesting or pointing others to CSAM anywhere, including outside TakeTurn.
2.2. There are no warnings for these violations. One violation leads to an immediate, permanent ban.
3. Prevention by design
3.1. Adults only. TakeTurn requires users to be 18 or older. We ask for a birthday right after you sign in with Apple or Google and block anyone under 18. References confirm that a new user is known to the referrer and is 18 or older.
3.2. Human review of new profiles, or a reference from an existing user. New accounts join a waiting list. A person on our team reviews the profile photo and verification selfie, or an existing user vouches for the person. Moderators are trained to look for signs that a user may be a minor.
3.3. Friends only, no public content. There is no public feed and no discovery of strangers' content. Only accepted friends can send each other Takes.
3.4. Live camera only. Takes must be captured live with the in-app camera. Gallery uploads are not possible, which limits the spread of existing images.
3.5. Blurred by default. New Takes arrive blurred. Recipients decide whether to reveal them and can report without revealing.
3.6. Safety copies for reporting. We keep an encrypted copy of Takes each user received in the last 24 hours, only so they can be reported and reviewed after they disappear.
3.7. Automated tools. Takes are private and are not scanned by automated hash-matching. We rely on reports from users and on review by our team. Anyone can report a Take or a profile in the app. A person reviews every report that concerns a child; apparent CSAM is removed, the account is permanently banned and never restored, and we report it to NCMEC (US) and to the competent authority where the law requires. That report is the only sharing involved, and we keep the reported content for the period the law requires (in the US, one year after the report). If we add automated matching against lists from recognized child-safety organizations later, we will say so here before it starts. Separately, the sender's and the recipient's phones check photos for sensitive content on the device only (nothing is uploaded for this); that check does not look for CSAM and is not a substitute for reporting.
3.8. Age checks. Birthday at sign-up, age ranges that Apple or Google may provide (range only), and a sign-up lock for a birthday under 18 (a one-way code (hash) of the sign-in account and the date the person turns 18 according to the birthday entered, nothing else) support the 18+ rule. See our Privacy Policy Section 15.
4. How to report
4.1. In the app:
- press and hold the sender's card in Chats, tap Report and block, choose Something they sent me, and select the child safety reason;
- to report an account that may belong to someone under 18, press and hold their card or open their profile, tap Report and block, and choose May be under 18; or
- go to Settings > Report an issue.
4.2. Without the app: anyone, including parents, guardians, teachers and people without an account, can report at taketurn.co/support or by email (see Section 9). Include the username if you know it. You do not have to give your name when reporting CSAM.
4.3. Do not capture or share the material, even to report it. Possessing or sending CSAM is a crime. Our report tools let us review the content directly.
4.4. If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or the police first.
4.5. You can also report directly to: the NCMEC CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678 (US), the Internet Watch Foundation at report.iwf.org.uk (UK), or your national hotline at inhope.org.
5. What we do when we find CSAE
5.1. Prioritized review. Reports about child safety go to the front of our review queue.
5.2. Immediate action. When we become aware of apparent CSAM or other CSAE, we:
- remove the content and make it inaccessible;
- permanently ban the account, so the Apple or Google account used to sign up cannot be used on TakeTurn again;
- remove any references given by or to that account where they may have been misused;
- preserve the content and related account information, as required by law; and
- report it to NCMEC's CyberTipline.
5.3. Reporting to NCMEC. We report apparent CSAM, and apparent child sex trafficking or online enticement of children, to NCMEC, as US law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A) requires of online service providers. NCMEC makes reports available to law enforcement in the US and around the world.
5.4. Other authorities. Where the law of another country requires it, we also report to the relevant authorities (for example, the UK National Crime Agency or authorities in EU Member States). If we have information suggesting a child's life or safety is at risk, we tell the relevant law enforcement authorities without delay.
5.5. Preservation. We preserve reported material and related information for one year after a report to NCMEC, as US law requires, or longer if law enforcement asks us to. We restrict access to it to the people who need it and keep it encrypted. See our Law Enforcement Guidelines.
5.6. No notice to the offender. We do not tell an account holder about a report to NCMEC or the authorities where doing so could put a child at risk or interfere with an investigation.
6. Under-18 accounts
6.1. If we believe an account may belong to someone under 18, we put it under review and may ask the person to verify their age. If we learn or reasonably believe that the account belongs to someone under 18, we remove it, even if no rule was broken.
6.2. We delete its data when the 6-month appeal period ends, or sooner if the person asks, except what we must keep to stop the person re-registering before they turn 18, to handle any safety report, or to meet the law.
6.3. If we receive information about a user under 13, we delete their personal information promptly, as the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) expects. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6.4. If you believe we removed your account by mistake, you can appeal within 6 months with the Appeal button in the app or, without signing in, at taketurn.co/support. We may ask for information that shows you are 18 or older, and we delete it after the decision.
6.5. Evidence related to child safety is kept for one year as the law requires (Section 5.5), even if the user deletes their account. It is no longer part of the account.
7. Our team and compliance
7.1. Everyone who reviews reports is trained on these standards and on how to recognize CSAE and signs that a user may be a minor. Access to reported material is limited and logged.
7.2. We comply with applicable child safety laws, including US federal law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A and related laws), and, where we offer the Service, the EU Digital Services Act and the UK Online Safety Act.
7.3. We review these standards regularly and update them as the law and good practice change.
8. Child safety point of contact
Our designated child safety point of contact can speak to our CSAM prevention practices and our compliance with these standards. Law enforcement, regulators, app stores, child-safety organizations and the public can reach them through the contact details below.

Change history
- November 2, 2026
TakeTurn is now provided by RETROBOND TEKNOLOJİ BİLİŞİM LİMİTED ŞİRKETİ, a company established in Turkey; we added its address. There is no longer a planned handover to a future company.
- October 31, 2026
Section 3.2: clarified that a new profile is either reviewed by our team or joins through a reference from an existing user.
- October 18, 2026
Clarified that the birthday is asked right after you sign in with Apple or Google, and that an under-18 date locks that sign-in account.
- October 18, 2026
Corrected: Takes are private and are not scanned automatically. We rely on reports and review by our team; apparent child sexual abuse material is removed, the account is permanently banned and never restored, and we report it to NCMEC or the competent authority as the law requires, which is the only sharing. Any automated matching added later will be announced before it starts. Also names the age checks (birthday, age range from Apple or Google, under-18 sign-up lock).
- October 12, 2026
Renamed the report reason to "May be under 18".
